HOWEVER, i just recently produced my own zine that i am really excited about and would like to start trading with people.

what's the trading protocol? send other authors an email and ask if they are interested? just mail 'em a zine with a note saying, "wanna trade"? or simply mail them your zine, no trade innuendo necessary? you are all probably old timers, so what do you like?

OH and my zine is called "my friends and their tall bikes". it's primarily drawings. speaking of which, anyone interested in trading?

if so! my interests aside from bicycles:
1. general DIY culture
2. free fun!
3. creating community places and encouraging local participation
4. building shelters on your own (i lived in a yurt i built most of last year!)
I have a film making its world premiere at the Mill Valley Film Festival. It's called "Compound Eye" and it centers around an East Bay cartoonist who draws a controversial comic strip depicting the World Trade Center rebuilt as an IHOP with two stacks of pancakes rising high into the sky, and how it affects his roommate who is trying to quietly run a pirate radio station out of his basement. The movie stars Fausto Caceres (from the radio show, Shirley and Spinoza) and Jesse Reklaw (the cartoon, "Slow Wave"), and uses their real lives and weaves them into a fictional story.

Go to www.compoundeyemovie.com for info and a trailer.

The screenings are:
Sunday, Oct. 7 at 5:30pm at the CineArts@Sequoia theater in Mill Valley
Sat. Oct. 13 at 2:45pm at the Rafael Film Center in San Rafael.

I've been working on this for months, and it hits the streets in 10 days! woo hoo!

It's a publication with a zine feel. It's cut and paste and full of radical activism in art, photography, drawings, essays, poems, sketches and comics. It's printed on 50# archival quality paper.
Guess what? Only 10 more days and the premiere issue of Nerve House hits the streets!

Nerve House

It’s chock-full of images and writing. Hard pieces, touching on sensitive subjects like rape, police brutality, war, immigrant rights and political power. At Nerve House, we stand with the people, even on the hard things.

Read work from both new and acclaimed writers including Eddie Kilowatt, Molly Snyder Edler, Jennifer Morales, Naomi Shihab Nye, Lisa Suhair Majaj, Leah Simone, Daisy Cubias and others. Read essays and perspectives from our editorial team.

Check out the photography, prints, comics and drawings from J. Coleman, Aisha Mershani, Susan Simensky Bietila, Shane Ingersoll, Taryn Wells, Jamie Winterhawke, Sarah Bell, Matt Scholtes and more. Wow! Sometimes art can say so much more than the news...

All of this, and it’s free (where distributed)!

I am starting a new on-line 'zine sort of thing called 'i dunno'. it's mainly an outlet for funny/creative writing, as well as pop culture and punk rock. It's a pretty goofy website, and I'm hoping that the strength of the writing on 'i dunno' will be enough to make up for my lack of web design skills. Basically, it's a forum for making fun of anything and quite possibly everything.

But the problem is, I need some help with the writing duties. i just started the website a few days ago, and already I'm extremely anxious to get some content to it, so that I can start trying to get people to come check this shit out. But having a lot of content is hard to do if you're just a one-man operation. So any strong funny/creative writers want to help a brother out?

Also, no one's gonna make any money off of it, especially me. It's purely for fun, writing experience, and reaching a small audience. That's it.

However, I did get what seems to be a faster-working 3-D program from a friend of mine. If I use that system, then the Superfuture will very likely be completed ahead of schedule.

After hearing all the hoopla about Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow and its 100 percent computer-generated scenery, I've decided to do a mostly computer-generated comic of my own. But since I didn't want to go through the trouble of thinking up an all-new idea for the comic, I decided to look at some old comic book ideas I had lying around. In so doing, I found the perfect idea for this mostly computer generated-comic project: Adventures in the Superfuture!

Adventures in the Superfuture! takes place 1,000 years in the future and beyond -- an era that I define as the superfuture. The story will deal with intergalactic mercenaries, terraforming scientists and an "astrophyisical" women's prison among other things. I could go into more details on the project, but I'm still working on it. And if things go ideally, I could have Adventures in the Superfuture! done sometime in November.
For the past few years, I've been doing a zine I call Zine Solar system. It originally was a review zine, but I later decided to make it a "zine of zine affairs." As such, ZSS content includes commentary, comics, short stories, poetry, cheap ads and whatever else I can think of putting in there. One of the main focuses of ZSS is to express the variety of viewpoints that exists (Or should that be "should exist"?) amongst small pressers. That's also why I like to refer to ZSS as being an alternative publication that really is alternative. So if you want to see what the ZSS deal is all about, you can order a sample copy for $2. Send cash or postal money order to: ZSS, P.O. Box 0222, Detroit, MI 48202-9998. And there's also the ZSS web site: http://timeliketoons.tripod.com/zss

Hope you can get into it!
